James Bond : Black Box Review

Bond fans i've often talked about the Bond movies and most recently the video games but the one thing about Bond i've never even considered talking about are the Bond comic books well now that's about to change with my review of James Bond: Black Box.

The story follows Bond as he investigates Saga Genji who is a very influential tech mogul who is responsible for the creation of The Black Box an artificially controlled cubicle device that contains data regarding universal worldwide government secrets involving agencies organizations and deep cover operations willing to sell them to the highest bidder. The story for me was rather simple and didn't quite have the intrigue of the movies but i'm glad to see Bond face more modern threats.

The Bond girl for this adventure is one Selah Sax i woman who like bond is after Genji but unlike bond she isn't doing this for queen and country she's doing it for herself and just that aspect of her character makes her very interesting and she can really handle herself when it comes to all the fights which is something we rarely see in Bond girls.

I have to say that the opening few pages of issue 1 to me felt like a typical bond pre-title sequence and for me that's not a bad thing i love it when other forms on Bond media do something that's worked in both the books and films for years to me that's great as it welcomes you to the world of James Bond.

There's a few things that i don't like about this series and one of them is the fact that for no reason what so ever Q is out in the field with Bond he has no reason being there what so ever and the other thing is actually a spoiler but since they spent five issues building up Selah she gets captured really easily and doesn't do much in issue 6.

The writer Benjamin Percy did a good job of setting up the world of Bond in comic book form and he does write to truly great dialog that feel like it came from a Bond film and his words are supported really well by Rapha Lobosco but the art work isn't always good but for the most part it really is good.

Overall if you want to see another Bond adventure while we wait for the next movie i would say check this out for me tho this book gets a 7 out of 10
