Octopussy Film Review

James Bond fans this year the very film that i'm about to review for you all becomes an old person as it turns forty years old. Which really did surprise me personally as I had no idea what year this film came out but in order to celebrate this birthday I thought that i'd take another look at this film and so then join me as I review the film that introduced us to a new M with the film in question being called simply just "Octopussy" enjoy.

The plot of this film is after another double O agent is found killed it's up to James Bond to find the killer and stop a a megalomaniacal Soviet general from using nuclear weapons as a way to force the western world to destroy all of their weapons. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not bad with this films plot being very light but that's par the course for these later Sir Roger Moore James Bond films tho in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Of course starring in this film is Sir Roger Moore as James Bond , Robert Brown as M and Walter Gotell as General Anatoly Gogol. Also starring in this film is Desmond Llewelyn as Q , Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny and Geoffrey Keen as Sir Frederick Gray. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with Sir Roger Moore putting in a really fine performance in this film and all of the rest of the MI6 regulars just doing there usual shtick and nothing really alot more then that.

Starring in this film is Maud Adams as Octopussy , Louis Jourdan as Kamal Khan and Kristina Wayborn as Magda. Also starring in this film is Kabir Bedi as Gobinda , Steven Berkoff as General Orlov , Vijay Amritraj as Vijay , David Meyer as Mischka , Anthony Meyer as Grischka and Michaela Clavell as Penelope Smallbone. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with all of this films cast members turning in some really good performances.

This films main Bond girl is the titular Octopussy who is played by the seriously stunning Maud Adams. While I will admit that the character of Octopussy is very well acted the character just isn't that interesting to me since there's nothing that makes this character stand out but having be the leader of this gang of thiefs in a genuinely good idea it's just a shame then this film does literally nothing with that idea which is a shame because it have introduced a moral conflict for the character which would have gone quite a long way to making her really seem all the more interesting then what she really actually is.

Personally i'd argue that this film has two Bond girls with the other one being Magda who is played by the seriously stunning Kristina Wayborn. Altho to me this just seems like a waste of a potentially good character since she doesn't really do all that much for the vast majority of the film but when she does something that actually impacts the film and character of Octopussy it is genuinely quite nice to see and while the character is very well acted she's just not that memorable either with the character also coming across as being quite bland and rather uninteresting.

Out of the two characters i'd say that Octopussy is the slightly better one since we do get to see why people underestimate Octopussy. Which makes it all the more better when she does finally get her own back on this films villain where as with Magda we know that she's street smart and so it's not as satisfying seeing her get her own back in this films villain as it just comes across as she could have done so at anytime but just couldn't be bothered to do and that's not what a character should do or even be like.

This film introduced us to the one off character of Penelope Smallbone who was meant to be a permanent replacement for Miss Moneypenny. Why the character was dropped was anyone's guess since when they replaced Lois Maxwell they very easily could have kept this character since she was meant to be a younger version of Miss Moneypenny anyway who is in love with Bond but just having her in this one film just makes her seem like a completely useless character that could have been removed from the film and nothing would have been lost plot wise.

Doing the production design for this film is Peter Lamont and well then if you've read any of my reviews for the James Bond film that he's done the production design for then you'll know that I have very mixed feelings. However with this film I actually didn't like the sets that he created for this film since they were far two small for the world of James Bond and as such look like they would be at home in literally any other film since for a James Bond film you want to see these big and rather lavish sets and that's just not something that you get in this film.

To put it bluntly this film is just boring and as such it's also rather forgettable which is a shame because on paper this film should have been really good. Since it has all the ingredients to be a good James Bond but it just can't be a good James Bond film because of the fact that it's characters are rather forgettable heck even tho i'm writing this review mere hours after watching this film i've already forgotten most of what actually happened in the film which is a shame because when this film gets it right like with the highly entertaining General Orlov for example it really does get it right but when it gets it wrong you really do feel it.

To me this film is one of the many James Bond films that you can just put on to have on in the background or when you just want a stereotypical James Bond film and nothing more then that. Which isn't a bad thing since that's the best way to describe or even view this film since if you think to hard about this film or about this films plot for even a second it all starts to fall apart but if you view as nothing then a stereotypical James Bond film then the film does come of as being very oddly more enjoyable.

Doing the opening titles for this film is of course regular James Bond opening titles regular creator Maurice Binder. I have to admit that even tho I really do love alot of the titles that Maurice Binder created for this franchise the titles that he created for this film and indeed for alot of the more later James Bond films just feel very bland and boring and indeed alot of them this film included just look the same as each other and as such they all loose that special something that makes the James Bond opening film titles feel special and rather unique.

This films title song is called "All Time High" and is sung rather well by singer Rita Coolidge and while I do like this song. I do feel that like the rest of this film this song is just flat boring and was rather forgettable since the song just comes across as being a stereotypical James Bind love song and nothing more then that which is a shame because the song itself is a good song it just needed to be alot more memorable and heck this song was even co-written by the great Tim Rice who wrote alot of songs for the 1994 film The Lion King so there is some pedigree behind this song but even so they just couldn't make this song a more memorable song.

To me this films main villain is easily General Orlov since a large amount of the film does revolve around him. However at the same time since he doesn't have a final fight with Bond in the films final action sequence with that honor going to Kamal Khan and while Kamal Khan does make for an interesting villain he's not as entertaining as General Orlov is and both villains just aren't that threatening since both villains just across as being rather cartoonish which does make them seem less rather threatening.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this films running time even was I do know that this film has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly two hours and five minuets. Which I was a great running time for this film to have since it is the bog standerd running time for the James Bond films around this time to have and to this films credit this film really does fly by and it doesn't feel like its that long at all with the film honestly feeling more like that it really does comes in at well under two hours.

So now then since this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty rather fun. With this films action sequences being the most fun aspect of the film simply because of the fact that all of this films action was just fun rather to look at and was really filled to the brim of some really cool and some really funny moments as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if your looking for something that's nothing more then the stereotypical James Bond film and nothing more then you really can't go wrong with this film but with that being said this is still a pretty bad film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com , the official James Bond fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personal favorite website to use to get the images that I used in this very review being the official James Bond fandom wiki page just simply due to the fact that pretty much all of the images that are featured / presented to us and are currently up and also on the official James Bind fandom wiki page are all fairly high quality and as well as being fairly high definition and well then boys and girls just freaking like James Bond I will return.

The Spy Who Loved Me Film Review

Even tho the James Bond film franchise is pretty much box office gold today it wasn't always the case as back in the mid seventies the franchise was on the verge of dying out. With both Live And Let Die and The Man With The Golden Gun not getting really that good reviews and not doing that good at the office coupled with the fact that franchise co-producer Harry Saltzman had some serious debts of his own to pay off there really was alot of pressure on this film to succeed to prove to people that James Bond really can survive outside out of the sixties and so then join me as I review the film saved the James Bond franchise with the film in question being called simply just "The Spy Who Loved Me" enjoy. The plot of this film is James Bond is tasked with teaming up a Russian spy in order to stop a reclusive megalomaniac from creating a new world under the sea. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented
