Skyfall Film Review

Whilst Sir Sean Connery was the one that got the James Bond franchise really moving when it comes to the films there's no doubt that the most popular modern James Bond is easily Daniel Craig. With the actor becoming so well known in the role that he eventually became an executive producer on his films with him even following in the tradition of having the third film in his tenure be his best one and so then join me as I review the film that sees two beloved characters rejoin the franchise and one get killed off with the film in question being called simply just "Skyfall" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when M is hacked with a message that threatens to make public a list of every single known MI6 agent currently active it's up to James Bond to work out who has the list and stop them before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I im all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this plot being perhaps the best Daniel Craig James Bond plot out there as while it does update the meaning of being a spy in an age where we have cameras everywhere it still does manage to harken back the day of the early James Bond films with this films plot feeling like a love letter to all of those films as there's something in this plot that will harken back to alot of the previous James Bond eras be it the more campy feel of the later Sir Roger Moore films to the more serious Timothy Dalton films if your a James Bond fan then this films plot will have something for you in it even if you don't know what it is is just yet as that's the magic of this films plot as it's also one that whilst it's not the best developed plot out there it is most certainly a really strong plot that does oddly enough keep you tense much like how Bond himself is all throughout the main body of the film as well and yet at the same time this films plot does know when to break that tension as well something that was never really a thing in any of the previous Daniel Craig led James Bond films with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Of course starring in this film is Daniel Craig as James Bond , Dame Judi Dench as M and Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner. Also starring in this film is Ben Whishaw as Q and Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny. Now then in terms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with all of this films MI6 regulars not only either doing what they would do best in the following James Bond films or what they do do best thanks to them appearing in the previous James Bond films with all of the main MI6 regulars turning in some really good performances in this film which is something that really does make alot of sense when you take into account just how good all of this films actors really are with it being painfully obvious that the best actor in this film is quite easily Dame Judi Dench as she has not only been with the franchise the longest having played the previous version of M in the Pierce Brosnan films but would also reprise the role in these first three Daniel Craig films as well thus giving her more of an opportunity to really define her character and get her character down perfectly something which she would put to great use in all of her Daniel Craig James Bond film appearances where as even tho Dan is so good in this film you do get the feeling that he's still growing into the characters of James Bond where as with Dame Judi Dench she just hits the the road running from her very scene and really nails her performance in every single scene that she's in.

Also starring in this film is Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva , Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory and Bérénice Marlohe as Sévérine. Also starring in this film is Albert Finney as Kincade , Ola Rapace as Patrice and Helen McCrory as Clair Dowar. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt tat the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with all of the films more newer actors even those that would go on to become MI6 regulars over the course of the film do turn in some really good performances and in the case of Ralph Fiennes does more then hold a candle when it comes to acting against the very woman that his character is replacing in Dame Judi Dench with her being the best actor in the whole entire film as she's just that good with her acting in her characters death scene making what is already a pretty traumatic scene all the more upsetting just due to how good that she is in the film and while the rest of this films actors are good in their own right and do turn in some really good performances as well none of the hold a candle when it comes to just how good that she is in this film with the acting that's in this very film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

In what was a first for the James Bond films the main Bond girl for this is film is none other then M herself. With the character taking centre stage for the first time since the character as a whole first appeared in 1962's Dr. No with it being weird to see a character that we the audience usually see at just the start and maybe at the end of a James Bond film suddenly becoming this main character and it's something that does oddly work with this film as while this film does of course pay homage to the films that came before it it does also set a clear path for the future and part of that does mean defying audience expectations which does mean having M be this films main Bond Girl with the character oddly working in this role with this being due to the fact that the previous two James Bond films went out of their way to show the loving mother and son relationship that the two characters do share with each other and therefor it does oddly enough make alot of sense when Bond sees that her life is being threatened by this cyberterrorist that he would without thinking about it get her into his car and wisk her up to the one place where even his closest friends haven't been that being his childhood home in Scotland and while yes it would have been nice if the film did follow the more traditional Bond Girl route in this film it really didn't need to do that as M herself works far more better then thus films other Bond Girl that being Sévérine who is of course played by the seriously stunning Bérénice Marlohe who has the personality of a blank of wood with M being the better written of the two character altho this might be because us the audience have had literally decades to get to know M as character where as we only get to know Sévérine for all of fifteen minuets.

To be fair to this film even tho it's second Bond Girl Sévérine isn't that interesting of a character as she's basically just Andrea Anders but done much more worse she does add to the plot of the film as it's her reveals to Bond where Silva's base of operations is. With this films production designer Dennis Gassner not only making some really fun and great looking sets in his right but also he does create sets that look like that they belong in a James Bond film with the best example of this being the casino set where Bond first formally meets Severine which does look really beautiful and yet at the same time it does look like a set that you could perfectly imagine being in a James Bond film as it's just massive and yet none of it feels wasted as there's always something going on and while the character of Severine could have been done alot more better just by giving her some more screen time there's no way in heck that you could do these sets any better given who was making them and while yes some of his sets do look a little bit flat and uninteresting like for examples Silva's homebase just looks empty alot of the time whereas his character does demand a set that is a bit more flash and over the top as that's who his character is but given that he's also the kind of character that does like think two or three steps ahead having more bare bone looking base does also work for his character as well even tho it does look very visually uninteresting in the film and heck even the main MI6 base looks a little bit flat as this is a set that should have computers everywhere and look very modern and yet even tho the film does have the inbuilt excuse of the characters only just moving into there new base it just looks a little bit bare and not something that you'd imagine an MI6 base to look like but when Dennis Gassner gets it right tho he really does get it right.

Of course this films title song is also called Skyfall is written and sung really well by the super talented Adele. Who to be it simply kills it with this song both from a writing point of view and a singing point of view as well as she just nailed this song so perfectly well that it's hard imagine this film without this song in it and while it might not be people's personal favorite James Bond theme song people would be foolish to deny just how good that this song really is as it's just such a beautiful song which is something that really does make alot of sense as Adele only does song that she can make personal to her which is why she agreed to do the song for this film and also why it turned out so good in the first place as for whatever reason she made the song personal to her and it's something that really did work and because of that it did mean that the writing for the song was top notch and while this might sound like that i'm a huge Adele it's also something that's true as even tho she does rather rightfully get alot of credit for being a really singer not alot of people talk about her song writing skills and that is something that she should also get alot of love and credit for as well as she really does know how to write a good song and how to keep people hooked on every single word that she's saying saying and even tho the song was co-written by her frequent collaborator Paul Epworth it is still a really good song that captures her voice perfectly with Adele as expected also singing the song really well and while "Nobody Does It Better" might be the best James Bond theme song out there there's no doubt that this film is the best sung song out there.

Doing the opening titles for this film really was of course James Bond opening title regular Daniel Kleinman. With him returning after being absent from the dreadful Quantum Of Solace with him also creating some really good looking titles for this film that not only capture the more darker tone and nature of the films opening song but also kind of giving away major spoilers all throughout them as well like showing us Skyfall itself and hinting that this is the last James Bond film that Dame Judi Dench will be in but even so this films opening titles do look really good with them almost being there own mini movie in their own right as they do have alot of really creative imagery in them that do make them stand out from all of the over James Bond titles out and while they don't advance the plot of the film like the ones in Die Another Day did for example they really don't need to as this is a case where we the audience aren't meant to be know if Bond survived the pre-titles scene or not and there for not really focusing on him but rather the things that could happen and do happen around him in these opening titles does make alot of sense and when you add in the fact that they also do match up with the films opening theme song really well it does create a title sequence that whilst there not as good as the one from The Spy Who Loved Me or as memorable as the one from Goldfinger is for example they are still a really good opening title scene in it's own right with the perhaps the most stand out part of it being the skull that form in the blood just due to how creepy that that visual really is as that's not something that you'd expect to see or even really want to see in a James Bond opening title sequence and yet here it is clear as day and it's something that really does make this films opening titles all the more creepier because of it.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and twenty three minuets and nine seconds. Which to be fair to this film is pretty much the exact grand total running time that you'd expect a Daniel Craig James Bond film to have with this film even having the right amount of plot there to cover this amount of running time and while this film really doesn't use it's running time in alot of areas like for example the fact that this films plot isn't that well developed that's also something that could be said for all of the James Bonds as all of them don't have that well developed plots and this franchise really doesn't need as all if it needs is the bare bones of a plot and that's it as the fun of these films comes from seeing James Bond taking down these over the top bad guys and those kinds of movies don't and nor should they have well developed plots as these James Bond films are meant to be nothing more then junk food for the brain think Fast & Furious but with spies because that's this film in a nutshell and having a kore well developed plot would get in the of that and while the films characters aren't that well developed either this again isn't something that's exclusive to this film as all of the films characters are meant to be one dimensional characters as the James Bond films are male power fantasy films were men can see themselves in the character of James Bond and therefor giving him a more developed character no matter who is playing him would change the entire idea of the franchise with perhaps the only character that cold have needed improving upon being the character of Raoul Silva as there's not really much to his character over then the fact that he's always thinking two or three steps ahead of everyone else and that's really it but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that  have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films action being a whole more better then what it really had any right to be given the fact that this film director Sam Mendes had never directed an action film before making this film and yet judging by this film alone you'd think that he's been making nothing but action films as all of this films action scenes are that well directed and edited with them each one being a whole more better then the one that came before with the attack on Skyfall itself being a wonderfully intense action that does show Bond having to outwit Silva any chance that he gets and seeing him do that by turning his childhood home into big Home Alone trap was a really smart idea but in saying that tho that's not this films best action scene as that honor quite easily goes to the films pre-title scene as we get to see that scene evolve from being a car chase to being a bike chase to then being a fight scene on the rooftop of a moving train all of which does culminate to make that scene the best action scene in this whole entire film which is really saying something as this film really is filled to the brim with alot of really good action scenes and fight scenes as well all of which work really well as you never really know just what your going to in each other of them with them all having some really cool moments in them as well which s something that really does make them all the more better then what they really should have been in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall it's not that hard to see why this film is considered by many to the best Daniel Craig James Bond film as it really is that good of a film but at the same time tho it's not the best James Bond film as the film is not only a bit over hyped but in general isn't as good as some of the other James Bond films are in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

Noe then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , Wikipedia , the official James Bond fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personal favorite website to use to get the images that I used in this very review being the official James Bond fandom wiki page just simply due to the fact that pretty much all of the images that are featured / presented to us and are currently up and also on the official James Bond fandom wiki page are all fairly high quality and as well as being fairly high definition and well then boys and girls just freaking like James Bond I will return.

Casino Royale 2006 Film Review

Out of all of the more modern James Bond era the most popular one is quite easily the Daniel Craig era which is understandable as the actor has starred in the last five official James Bond films. This is something that could be seen as being a bit borin...
